Mr. Marly (mrmarly.com) is a community map for stray cats. This page explains what we keep about you, why, and what you can do about it. We only collect what the map needs.
Questions about your data? Email .
What we keep
- Your email address, so we can send you sign in links. It is never shown to anyone.
- The name you choose, shown next to the cats you add and the comments you write.
- The cats you add: a photo, a name, a description and the spot on the map where the cat lives. Photos are resized in your browser before they are uploaded, which also removes hidden details such as the location your camera may have saved in the file.
- Food and water updates and comments you post, with the time you posted them.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.
- Your own location stays in your browser. If you allow it, the map uses it to open where you are, but it is not stored or sent to us. When you add a cat, only the spot you choose for the cat is saved.
- To keep you signed in, your browser stores a sign in token on your device. It is only used for signing in.
To count visits we use , which works without cookies and does not follow you across other websites.
Why we use it
To run the map you asked to use: signing you in, showing who added what, keeping the information about each cat up to date, and stopping spam and abuse.
Who helps us run it
- Google Firebase hosts the website, handles sign in, and stores the database and the photos. The database and the photos are kept in Google's European region in Belgium. Sign in emails and sign in data may be processed by Google outside the EU, covered by Google's data protection terms.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map images. To send them, its servers receive your IP address, as any website you visit does.
- If you tap Directions, Google Maps opens and its own privacy terms apply.
How long we keep it
- Your account stays until you delete it.
- Comments stay until you or a moderator delete them.
- Cats stay on the map while they help the community. A moderator can remove any cat.
- When you delete your account, your account, your name and your comments are deleted. Cats you added stay on the map without your name, so others can keep looking after them.
